Well Deepak’s mystical voices isn't taking me away as easily as it used to :{ Last night it was late and I hadn't done my meditation yet so I decided to do it right in bed. While I was comfortable, my husband’s snoring and my dog licking my arm made it impossible for me to "be taken away". I will admit the "Mindful Breathing" sure felt good, and I could feel the breath going in and out, up and down my body like I use to, so I was still getting a lot of benefit from it. The true determining factor that it is still working is that when I looked at my Fitbit this am it said I slept SEVEN hours, only stirred a few times and didn't wake up at all (I kind of figured as I was having some pretty vivid dreams last night so I knew I was out!), where in all the other days before I started Deepak’s meditations, I was LUCKY to be getting 5-6 hours of sleep and up/restless way too often (I always wondered why I felt so tired in the mornings - this Fitbit really has been a blessing for insights in my steps and sleep). Tonight it's back to my "womb" (aka bathtub) for “Deepak Time” and with both kids gone for most of the night, there is sure to be no distractions this time!
Another thing I learned today is that no matter what a bag says is a “serving”, still measure it as they could be wrong. I swore I would NEVER be one of those people who measure their food, I bought a scale years ago and used it a day or two and took it to the thrift store vowing I’d NEVER measure my food again. At one of my WW meetings I decided to “give it a try” again and bought the WW scale. I am SOOOO thankful I did as it has saved me more than once from eating too many or not enough portions. Today I went to have some Rice/Sesame/Seaweed crackers and the bag said 12 chips is 1 portion (40 g). Well good thing I measured as it was more like 7-8 chips was the serving. I know 4 chips doesn’t seem like a lot to go over BUT it’s all these little things all day long that contribute to the weight gain. I’m also more cautious of how much of things I want. For example instead of using 2 pts for a whole serving of salad dressing, I use ½ of it to use 1 point of my daily points (that’s one more point that can go towards my YUMMY SNICKERS dessert :), all these little “adjustments” add up to a LOT of extra points at the end of the day! For someone who use to LOVE ketchup and would have it on almost every meal, I am now deciding those extra points are worth going towards other things (while I still have it once in a while, I use a LOT less of it).
Every “lick of the spoon”, “cleaning up the kids plates”, “Taste testing while you cook” adds up to be big points at the end of the day. I catch myself often going to do this and stop myself to remind myself “Is it worth it”. I am loving the “Awareness” WW has brought to my life.
