Music has ALWAYS been "Therapy for my Soul". For those that follow me on Facebook you can surly tell this! Ever since I can remember I have used music to "Take me away" from things. I just let the lyrics do their magic. I've been using it more and more since starting this program. Before if I was stressed, lonely, tired, angry etc I would turn to cookies, chips, bread - ok ANYTHING unhealthy that I could get my hands on, only to feel guitly and re start the whole process. The last few nights I have decided to turn to one of my favourite things - Music. It's amazing how a song can take you somewhere and suddenly your mood has changed and you no longer feel like turning to food (although this week the music wouldn't "shut off" and the lyrics took me away all night long - 2 hrs sleep is NOT good when you have to get up for work the next day). With my son going off to college in the spring I KNOW I am going to have to make some big changes and have LOTS of "tools" on hand to turn to for my emotions. So far my Music and Epsom Baths seem to be doing the trick :D Try and find a few things that work for you and keep them on hand (or on a list by the fridge for when you are tempted to turn to that cookie) for when your emotions are out of control.
