Today was a bittersweet day. I went into Kitchener to shop for some new clothes as I purged out my closets on the weekend (see previous post), and on arrival I saw TONS of new things I LOVED! I took them all into the dressing room and was SHOCKED that I am down 1-2 sizes (depending on the outfit - not pants yet)! I was excited to see my progress with only 11 pounds lost so far BUT on the other side I was anxious after seeing that the smallest size they carry is now getting loose (in some items) and frustrated that they only bring in 1 item of my size per each set so I was not able to find a lot of items I wanted. It also got me thinking that soon I will be in the "in between" sizes where the Plus stores will be too big but the regular stores will be too small - after today I realized that may come sooner than I thought for some items. Don't get me wrong it's VERY exciting to go into a change room and have this dilemma, but it's still frustrating for someone who doesn't like to shop. The other issue is how to gauge how much you should buy of the new size, as soon that size will hopefully be too big as well (oh the things we have to think about Lol). I decided to just buy a couple new outfits just to "treat" myself and celebrate, but held off going "crazy" as I know I will be needing more sizes down the road. My friends have FABULOUS luck shopping at consignment stores, but every time I have tried I walk out empty handed. I may just have to call on a few of them to take me out with them to fill in the size gaps for the next little bit (cause I already have a husband on me for spending money on new clothes – geesh , he should be thrilled about my progress! :D ).
On another note, I had my first get together with friends since getting on track again with my healthy eating, and while they all enjoyed the yummy looking dips, chips, beverages and candies that sat in front of me, I made the decision to NOT use my weekly points and bring my water, popcorn (which I pre counted out in points) and a fruit kabob with drizzled chocolate rather than dunking it in the chocolate like the rest of them. I also was craving the mango/onion salsa but didn’t want to use points to use the nachos to eat it so decided to spread it on top of my popcorn – everyone thought I was nuts, but TBH it tasted pretty amazing and I was proud of myself for not “following the crowd” and sticking to my plan (and I felt better the next morning as well). We also have a girls getaway coming up, which we ALWAYS “enjoy” many “Treats/Beverages”. I have already made the decision that this year I will enjoy the getaway and my fabulous friends without the need to “over indulge” in the treats/bevies. My one friend always has amazing fruit and veggie trays on these weekend getaways and I plan to enjoy snacking on those and a few “healthier snacks” (ok MAYBE one bottle of ice wine will make its way into my luggage – ONE!). I know I will get “ribbed” for not joining in, but I also know I have my GOAL and to me that’s more important than risking the gain after a weekend away (down the road yes a splurge here and there will be happening but until I get this under my belt I NEED to try and stick to this fully). I’m looking forward to my friends, the spa and Chick Flicks this year just as much as I looked forward to all the treats in previous years! Girl’s getaways are “therapy for the Soul” and can be enjoyed while eating clean/healthy. We are ALWAYS going to have things come up where we are tested and the food is going to call our name, but in those times we need to remind ourselves of WHY we are doing this and make sure whatever enters our mouth is WORTH the extra points.

Keeping my GOAL in focus!
