Today was my first weigh in since getting back from our week in Las Vegas. I was super nervous as I ended up getting blisters while there after a couple days so wasn’t able to walk as much as I wanted too, I also gave up “counting points” while down there and decided to just “enjoy my vacation” since we were on the go so much.
I was SHOCKED to learn I am DOWN 3.6 lbs. (TOTAL 9.2 lbs. since starting WW Feb 06)!!!! This is the FIRST vacation that I have come home from and been DOWN in weight after eating all that I did. BUT this is also the first vacation that I REALLY focused on “WHAT” I was consuming. Carlo’s Bakery (Cake Boss) was in our hotel, and in the past I would have been there EVERY day and I also would have walked out with MORE than one treat in hand, I also would have had desert at every meal. This time I didn’t even visit Buddy’s till the second last day and I only walked out with ONE treat! I also rarely had dessert (and we even did a buffet – which I filled up on seafood rather than desserts) during the week as I was so satisfied with my main meals. This is HUGE for me coming from a German family that would eat “one of everything” on the dessert table at family functions as my Aunts are such amazing cooks.
This is also the first vacation that I felt I could walk and not feel exhausted – we walked the main strip and put in close to 20,000 steps in one day – before I NEVER could have done that. I did notice the morning I had a ½ chicken pita and fruit salad for breakfast I was able to walk more and not feel exhausted compared to the other morning I ate TWO egg Mcmuffins (yup TWO – a couple mornings and still down 3.6 lbs.). The BIG difference this vacation was I felt in control and didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything (I even went to the Cheese Cake Factory and passed on cheese cake as my main meal was filling).
I still can’t say enough how glad I am my friend asked me to join WW, as I am still super excited and motivated after close to a month on it.
